The first view of Nice from the plane . . .

Beautiful sienna colored tile roofs, an azure blue coast line (hence the name Côte d’Azur LOL), the thrill, a dream come true. OMG, don’t let the plane crash or the customs officer deny us entry!
No worries, we were off the plane and into Nice with no problems. Just have to take a beat and tell you about the bathroom at the airport—The sink had a mirror where you put you hands under to add soap, wash, and dry—very cool

Our taxi driver, as almost all service workers we’ve encountered, speaks excellent English and converses steadily with us while driving us to the Old Town, and advising us which towns to see. The gist is definitely go to Eze, Monte Carlo, Menton, and Antibes; skip St. Tropez and Cannes as the season is not yet started there and many places will still be closed. He drops us off on the edge of the Old Town (pedestrian friendly section) and we head to Bag Guys, where we’ve been advised to store our baggage. Through the miracle that is Google we find it easily and freed of lugging it about, we wander a bit through old town, view the Promenade des Anglais next to the sea-don’t venture over as it’s a bit windy and chilly. We had lunch at Peixes, I had the sea bass ceviche—-a huge first for me and it was good. The Rose was better, crisp and dry and the bread as always, magnificent!
We wander through Old Town where there is a flower market, we find the olive oil store I wanted to find, Alvieri and bask in the joy …
True to their word, our hosts let us know that out home away from home on Rue Cassini was ready ahead of schedule. It is beautiful, spacious feeling for a small place, artfully decorated and newly renovated. Our first day feels successful.
